Living Legend Foundation, Inc.
A Foundation that has a passion and a heart for Living Jazz & Blues Legends. We created this foundation with the purpose of educating our youth about honoring and celebrating Jazz & Blues Legends and Greats, generally over the age of 70. We now have changed this to the tender age of 65 and above. Our goal and mission is to make sure that Jazz & Blues lives on in the heart and minds of our future generation.
We created a monthly community celebration to unite and bring old friendships together for a nice meal & some great music. These celebrations have united old friendships in the music world that had not seen each other for years.
Our mission is unique in the fact that we select and honor Living Jazz & Blues Legends and honor and celebrate their contributions while they are alive to appreciate the honoring. We feel that if a person has dedicated 25+ years of their life to Jazz or Blues, then that is Legendary and needs to be celebrated.
Our project runs once a month from March through August every year. We feel it is very important to honor and celebrate Living Legends while they are here amongst us. We also educate the families about the importance of Legacy Protection and Preservation.
March celebrates Women's Month, April celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month, May celebrates Patriotism, June celebrates Juneteenth Jazz & Black Music Month, July celebrates Freedom Month and August celebrates Trailblazers. We try and theme the Living Legends within the appropriate month.
The project is a community event that brings the community together for a night of great food, fellowship and great music.
Living Legend Foundation, Inc. is the future and an out-growth of the Jammin Foundation founded by Dahle Scott McDuff, a noted world class Jazz Singer and leader of The Jammin Foundation. The Living Legend Jazz Series is a reflection of the "Paviors Night". We thank the Jammin Foundation for it's creative sponsorship and partnership in helping to develop the current Living Legend Foundation, Inc. and the Living Legend Jazz Series.
