A Foundation that has a passion and a heart for Living Jazz & Blues Legends. We created this foundation with the purpose of educating our youth about honoring and celebrating Jazz & Blues Legends and Greats, generally over the age of 70. Realizing that age is only a number, our goal and mission is to make sure that Jazz & Blues lives on in the heart and minds of our future generation of Young Lions & Lioness of Jazz & Blues
We started out creating a monthly community celebration to unite and bring old friendships together for a nice meal & some great music. These celebrations have united old friendships in the music world that had not seen each other for years.
Our mission is unique in the fact that we select and honor Living Jazz & Blues Legends and honor and celebrate their contributions while they are alive to appreciate the honoring. We feel that if a person has dedicated 25+ years of their life to Jazz or Blues, then that is Legendary and needs to be celebrated.
We now have 5 signature events, February, African American Heritage Month Jazzabration®, April 30th, International Jazz Day JazZabration®, June, Our Annual Los Angeles City Council JazZabration®, July 31st, Living Legend Foundation’s Founder Annual JazZabration® Day and the 3rd Saturday in December, Duke Ellington Society Southern Califoria Holiday Jazzabration®. We feel it is very important to honor and celebrate Living Legends while they are here amongst us. We also educate the families about the importance of Legacy Protection and Preservation.
These projects are community events that brings the community together for a night of great food, fellowship and great music.
February celebrates African American Hertiage Month, April celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month and International Jazz Day and June celebrates Juneteenth Jazz Legacy Month & African American Music Appreciation Month, July celebrates the Founder’s Birthday Jazzabration® and December celebrates Duke Ellington Society Southern California Holiday Jazzabration®.
We are always looking for great partnerships to help in making these events incredible for our honorees. Thank you Charles “Dolo” Coker Scholarship Foundation and Duke Ellington Society, Southern California.
